470 COVID cases in Ecija; 11 new, 2 deaths

CABANATUAN CITY – Eleven new COVID-19 infections said to be caused by local transmission were recorded in Nueva Ecija, bringing to 470 cases its total number with two new virus-related deaths occurring in the towns of Peňaranda and General Natividad, it was reported yesterday.

The Nueva Ecija Inter-Agency Task Force headed by Gov. Aurelio M. Umali said the new infections were four private employees tagged as Patients #470, 469, 468 and 467, who may have contracted the virus from Patient #446, a 31-year-old male sales agent, who hails from Bgy. Umangan, Aliaga.

The four new virus carriers — three men and a woman aged between 26 and 37 were already placed under home quarantine. They were all from Cabanatuan City, particularly in Bgys. Pamaldan, Aduas Centro, Kapitan Pepe Subd., and Buliran.

Father Arnold Abelardo, NEIATF spokesman also reported the bad news that two senior citizens afflicted with COVID-19 from Bgys. Sto. Tomas, Peňaranda and Kabulihan, General Natividad have died. They were named as Patients 206 and 397, a 66-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man, respectively.

Also being monitored are positive cases involving a nine-year-old girl from Bgy. Aulo, Palayan City and a five-year-old boy from Bgy. Mayapyap Sur, Cabanatuan City named as Patients #462 and 465, respectively.

The nine-year-old girl had close contact with Patient #420, a female utility worker, aged 63 also from Bgy. Aulo while the boy, along with Patient#464, an 18-year-old woman got the virus from Patient #463, a 48-year-old female government worker.

Overall, the province has recorded a total of 24 cases of COVID-19 related deaths with 277 recoveries and 169 active cases.
