The gains of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) 17 years since its inception, coupled with ways forward to enhance the anti-poverty flagship program, were tackled during the Thursday (August 7) Media Forum at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Office’s New Press Center in Quezon City.
Director Gemma Gabuya, 4Ps national program manager, expounded on the program’s continuing goal to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty among its members by helping monitored children access their right to education and encouraging behavioral-change among household-beneficiaries.
DSWD Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, cited the agency’s openness to discuss possible amendments to the 4Ps Law, otherwise known as Republic Act (RA) 11310.
The DSWD Thursday Media Forum was hosted by Special Assistant to the Secretary (SAS) for Communications Raymond Robert Burgos and Director Shayne Purugganan of the Public Relations Service (PRS). It was live streamed over the DSWD Facebook page. (LSJ)
