5 BIFF surrenders in Sultan Kudarat

Surrender of BIFF Members

Camp Siongco, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao – An additional five-armed members of the terrorist BIFF-Karialan Faction surrendered to government security forces in the province of Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday afternoon (June 7, 2022).

The 1st Mechanized Infantry (Maaasahan) Brigade and 1st Mechanized Infantry (Lakan) Battalion catered the surrender of five individuals along with their high-powered firearms.

Lt. Col. Cresencio Sanchez Jr., Commanding Officer of 1Mech Bn presented the surrenderors to Brig. Gen. Pedro Balisi Jr., Commander of 1Mech Bde with the presence of Paglat Municipal Mayor Adbulkarim Langkuno, Atty. Cyrus Toreňa, Provincial Administrator of Maguindanao and Roger Dionisio, Agila-Haven focal person in a ceremony held at the headquarters of 1MECH BDE at Barangay Kalandagan, Tacurong City.

Lt. Col. Sanchez said “They have been hearing a lot about the benefits of AGILA-HAVEN and the willingness of the local government to help them start life all over again”, he said.

Surrender of BIFF Members

The surrendered personalities turned-in their firearms were as follows: one (1) US 57MM recoilless rifle, one (1) M16 rifle, one (1) Cal.50 barrett and one (1) RPG with ammunition.

Brig. Gen. Balisi Jr., believed that “More BIFF members are compelled to surrender to return to the government fold where the campaign against terrorism of 1Mech Bde is gaining momentum”, he explained.

Based on the record of JTF Central, a total of 126 former members of the BIFF – Karialan and Bungos Faction have turned-in their selves to the government and denounced their affiliations to the said terror group.

Meanwhile, Acting Division Commander, Brig. Gen. Eduardo Gubat commended the JTFC Troops and local government unit for their initiative to bring back the former violent extremist of the terrorist BIFF-Karialan Faction to their families and live a normal life in the community.

“Our troops from the Joint Task Force Central continue to bolster our civil-military cooperation efforts with partner stakeholders to put an end to terrorism in Central Mindanao and to convince the remaining terrorists to end their armed struggle and return to the mainstream society”, the JTFC Acting Commander emphasized.
