SIX persons including five members of New Peoples’ Army (NPA) and a soldier were killed in an encounter before dawn Thursday in Brookes Point Palawan.
This was confirmed by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)- Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) spokesman Lt. Col. Stephen Penetrante.
Penetrante said the encounter occurred at around 5 a.m. in Sitio Cabuyuan, Bgy. Mainit, Brookes Point, Palawan.
Elements of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 4 were conducting combat operations in the area when they encountered the rebels.
A five-minute firefight immediately and resulted in the killing of five rebels and a soldier.
As of press time, bodies of the slain rebels were still under the custody of MBLT 4 in Brookes Point.
