5 suspects in 2 San Jose heists fall

SAN JOSE CITY – Five rob suspects were nabbed after allegedly victimizing a sari-sari store owner and a fish vendor on Sunday afternoon here.

Nabbed during the first theft were three teen residents of this city.

City police head Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno said the three suspects were caught in the act of allegedly stealing the P3,820 sales money of Gillian Ramos, 28, owner of Jen Jen Sari-sari Store in Zone 1, Bgy. Sto. Tomas at 3 p.m.

Bruno said the victim’s relatives chased the suspects who fled on board a tricycle until they were cornered at the Science City of Munoz before they were turned over to responding lawmen.

Recovered from the trio were the stolen money and their getaway vehicle, a Kawasaki Bajaj tricycle bearing plate number CO-46983.

Meanwhike, police arrested two men who robbed at knifepoint fish vendor Arvhee Borja, 20, of Zone 10, Bgy. Sto. Tomas along the Maharlika Highway in Bgy. Caanawan at 9 p.m.

Bruno identified the two arrested suspects as Jerrime Recana, 20, tricycle driver, and Jose Marie Basco, 29, jobless, both of Bgy. Abar 1st, this city.

Investigation showed the victim was pushing her tricycle along Maharlika Highway in Zone 4, Bgy. Caanawan when the suspects arrived on board a motorized tricycle. The back rider alighted, pointed a bladed weapon at the victim then forcibly took her cellphone worth about P10,000 and immediately fled onboard a tricycle with his cohort-driver.

Bruno said a subsequent operation resulted in the arrest of the two suspects, who were positively identified by the victim.
