6ID Commander lauds NIA XII’s Nationwide Tree Planting Activity

More than a thousand tree seedlings were planted in a nationwide tree planting activity organized by National Irrigation Administration Region XII in collaboration with the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division held at 6ID Kampilan Golf Course in Camp Paulino Santos, Barangay Dado, Alamada, Cotabato yesterday, June 29, 2022.

The greening initiative dubbed “Trees.Water.Life; Greening the Philippines the NIA Way” was participated by the troops from the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO) Alamada, NIA – Libungan River Irrigation System, NIA XII Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Philippine National Police and other stakeholders.

Among those planted are 800 – Mahogany seedlings, 400 – Bayog, a bamboo species with the scientific name ‘Bambusa spinosa’, 123 – Pine Trees, 16 – Golden Shower, and 4 – Cherry blossoms.

NIA Nationwide Tree Planting

Major General Roberto S Capulong, Acting Commander of 6ID and JTF Central lauded this endeavor wherein the said activity symbolizes a common ground in aiming for a greener and sustainable community. “Let us use our roles in raising awareness on the importance of planting and growing trees. I hope that this activity can ignite the urge in restoring the earth by doing acts that will benefit our mother nature”, the Division Commander said.
