7 kilos of MJ seized in Mariveles, suspect held

MARIVELES, Bataan — Police here led by Lt. Col. Cesar Lumiwes scored Tuesday afternoon a major breakthrough in their campaign against illegal drugs with the confiscation of seven kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth P840,000 in Bgy. Batangas II, Mariveles, Bataan.
In his report to Col. Joel Tampis, Bataan police director, Lumiwes
identified the arrested suspect as Mervin Morada,25, student, resident of Brgy.Batangas II.

Lumiwes said that based on their investigation, the suspect was hauling a big bulk of marijuana from Benguet when apprehended.

From Benguet, the suspect landed in Samal town where our intelligence agents monitored and tailed him until we were able to set up a buy-bust operation,” Lumiwes said.

Lumiwes added he then informed his provincial director and organized a team composed of DEU Operatives of Mariveles PNP led by Lt. Marlon Buenaventura together with Bataan police office led by Lt. Gilcerio Dizon to conduct the buy-bust in Bgy. Batangas II.

The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect after he handed over a self-sealing transparent plastic sachet containing suspected marijuana fruiting tops to our PNP poseur buyer in exchange for P5,000. Upon protective search, another seven bricks of suspected marijuana fruiting tops (1 kilos each) inside his bagpack were confiscated from the possesion of the suspect with an estimated street value of more or less P840,000,” said Lumiwes.
