76-year-old American living in NAIA has fled to Thailand

THE American septuagenarian who recently gained attention on social media for living right inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has now left for Thailand, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Monday.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandovals that based on records, the American, aged 76 and whose name is being withheld, arrived from Bangkok last January 31, 2025.

Since then, he was reported by airport authorities to be living inside the NAIA Terminal 3 and as saying that hotels are expensive.
Prior to that, he had told media that he was a victim of theft, but still had some remaining cash. He was said to have been living off dole outs from airport workers and other passengers.

His case was already reported to the US Embassy in Manila whicho has initiated assistance for him.

The BI confirmed that the man did not overstay his visa and departed for Bangkok on February 22, 2025.
