LAGUNA police nabbed eight residents for allegedly engaging in illegal cockfighting or tupada in Pila,Laguna.
Laguna Provincial Director PCol. Serafin Petalio identified the arrested suspects as Felix Catayas ,22, Mario Dela Cruz, 54, Ronaldo Carillo, 53, Juanito Aquino, 56, Angel Angeles, 34 , Lexter Punio,35, Anecito Francisco, 39 ,Rodolfo Reyes , 66, all of Pila, Laguna.
The suspects were allegedly caught accepting bets while two fighting cocks with gaffs were about to battle inside an improvised fighting gallery at about 1:30 p.m. by operatives of the RSOU 4A and Pila police under the supervision of PCpt. Robin Martin, chief of police.
Police recovered a fighting cock with gaff, a wounded fighting cock, medical kit, pairs of slippers and P6,500 in cash.
Police will be file charges against the arrested suspects for violation of PD 449 (illegal cockfighting) before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
