MORE than 93,000 devotees to the Black Nazarene have attended the ‘First Friday Mass” held at the Quiapo Church six days before the 2025 Traslacion on January 9, 2025.
It was learned from the Manila Police District (MPD) that the said number of devotees were as of 4 p.m. only.
According to PMajor Phillip Ines, chief of the MPD-Public.Information.Office (PIO), at least 229 Manila policemen have been deployed by MPD Director Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay in the vicinity of the Quiapo Church to provide security for the devotees.
Police said more are expected to attend masses while the day of the Feast of the Black Nazarene continues to draw near.
Meanwhile, Ibay said the holding of the said mass was generally peaceful.
