Far Eastern University (FEU) student filmmakers continue to showcase their incredible talent with the new upcoming short film, Lexi. The short film will be released under Sunrise Production. Lexi was written and directed by Raine Gumapas— a transgender woman herself, who wanted to illustrate the difficulties that the LGBTQIA+ community encounters every day and how they overcame it. Lexi tells the story of a transgender sex worker who wanted to get gender confirmation surgery but will be faced with conflicts with money and her family.
The official release trailer of Lexi will premiere on May 28, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at the Official YouTube channel of Sunrise Production. According to the Producer Jaira Quincruz, the film will amplify the conversation about gender-related issues, specifically about transgender women and their everyday struggles. It will also showcase the issues surrounding sex work and gender confirmation surgery, which is still taboo for some.

The film features the director herself—Raine Gumapas, as Lexi, who was also the Writer, Editor, and Director of the Photography of the film. The entire cast is yet to be revealed as the film is currently in production.
The production team of Lexi is also behind the successful, Boses ng Tibak—a documentary film about youth activists that was recently nominated among the finalists of the FEU’s first-ever Documentary Festival.
