Albay uses container vans as isolation facilities

LEGAZPI CITY — Local government units (LGUs) in Albay province are now using container vans as isolation facilities for COVID-19 victims.

The Sangguniang Panlunsod of Legazpi City has passed a resolution to provide some P 20 million for the construction kf additional isolation and confinement facilities for COVID patients in this city.

Government and private health facilities and hospitals are now reportedly short of hospital beds due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in Albay.

Legazpi City under Mayor Noel Rosal has initially converted two container vans into isolation facilities complete with beds and ventilation facilities.

Daraga will also convert container vans into confinement facilities for COVID-19 patients in Bgy. Dela Paz.

In an earliee conference by the Provincial Health Council headed by Dr. Antonio Lodovice, provincial health officer urged, the Albay provincial government was urged to prepare additional funds for a Micro Biological Testing Laboratory and test kits to address the increasing cases of COVID-19.

Albay now has recorded 531 COVID-19 cases and 24 recorded deaths, reportedly among the highest in Bicol.
