DO not ever deal with fixers.

This warning was issued by Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco to all foreign nationals in the country, saying the agency only entertains dealings done within the BI premises legally and in accordance with due processes.

“Never engage the services of ‘fixers’ in processing documents with the BI,” Tansingco said, adding that his office has received reports that scammers are charging exorbitant amounts and promising to fix their problems.

According to Tansingco, he also received reports that unscrupulous individuals have been offering assistance to foreign nationals who are ordered to leave the country.

The assistance, he said, would be in the form of ‘fixing’ their cases.

He added that sources reported that the scammers, who are mostly compatriots of those involved, aggressively market their services on the communication platform WeChat.

“This is a scam. Do not even attempt to deal with these scammers, they will not help you with your case. It is best to just follow the law, lest be faced with more problems,” Tansingco stressed.

He also appealed to those who may have information about attempts to engage in fixing to let his office know about it for appropriate and immediate action.
