Armed dealer killed in clash

AN ARMED suspected drug trafficker was killed in a gunfight with undercover officers in Norzagaray, Bulacan around 2:30 a.m. yesterday, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon Coronel said.

The suspect identified as Harold Sunpongco, a resident of M. Perez Street in Barangay Poblacion in Norzagaray, yielded a loaded caliber .38 revolver, a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and a marked P500 bill during the operation in his neighborhood, said Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Chito Bersaluna.

According to the official, the suspect who is included in the watch list of the local police, fired shots at the poseur when he sensed the entrapment operation prompting the back-up operatives led by Captain Wilfredo Dizon Jr. to return fire killing him on the spot.

Bersaluna said two other suspected drug personalities in the province identified as Reynaldo Manalad and Edmond Cabigao were arrested during an anti-drug raid in Purok 4, Bgy. Sta. Isabel in Malolos City at 5 p.m. Friday.

He said members of the Malolos City Police Station led by Lieutenant Col. Emerey Abating recovered a hand grenade, a cal. .38 revolver with three live ammunition, five cal. .45 bullets, two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and various drug paraphernalia inside the suspects’ place during the search which was witnessed by local barangay officials.

The suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for illegal possession of explosives, drugs and firearm and ammunition, Bersaluna said.
