ATM card fraudster in Clark falls

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga – Operatives under the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-3) arrested a man for ATM card fraud at the D’Heights Resort and Casino here over the weekend.

Col. Christopher Abrahano, CIDG-3 officer, said suspect Michael Russel Lopez, 26, a resident of Cabanatuan City, was able to withdraw P300,000 from an ATM machine of the Security Bank in the casino premises using a card of another person.

A CIDG-Pampanga team led by Lt. Col. Dederick Relativo was able to arrest Lopez, who initially identified himself as “Dennis Guban of Cavite.” But after authorities coordinated with the Land Transportation Office and the National Bureau of Investigation for the identification of the suspect, he was prompted to disclose his real name.

Investigators learned that the ATM card belongs to an officer of a business locator here.

Lopez is facing charges for theft, estafa and violation of Republic Act 8484.

Meanwhile, CIDG-3 also arrested four other persons in connection with its continuing operations against wanted persons.

In Mexico, Pampanga, operatives arrested one Paul Nucum by virtue of a warrant issued by the San Fernando Regional Trial Court Branch 9 for frustrated murder with a recommended bail of P200,000. He is listed as top 10 most wanted in the town.
