IT’s official.
High-profile lawyer and media personality Atty. Ferdinand Topacio has taken his oath before Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) Chair Alfonso Cusi as the party’s national deputy spokesman.
The jampacked oath-taking held at the PDP Headquarters in Manila on Wednesday afternoon was attended by ranking PDP officials among them NCR secretary-general, Manila president and education committee chair Penny Belmonte, who all warmly welcomed Topacio.
Cusi noted how Topacio had been performing the function even before he was formally sworn in. It was learned that Topacio had also been previously sworn in, albeit as a member.

“We officially welcome you to the PDP. He has been doing his work more than as a deputy… it’s an honor to do this,” Cusi said before administering the oath to Topacio and putting on him the official party pin.
For his part, Topacio said: “I am very happy to serve the PDP without any expectation of recompense… without any quid pro quo. Maglilingkod lang po tayo nang walang kapalit.”
He vowed to perform his function the best way he can, noting how “these are difficult times for the opposition” as he cited the recent cases filed against him and Jimmy Bondoc, another lawyer-member of the PDP.
Apart from being a lawyer who has handled and won high-profile cases, Topacio is also a film producer and a member of the mainstream media, both print and broadcast.
