The City of Manila will be declaring August 4 as ‘Carlos Yulo Day’ while the double gold Olympic medalist who is a resident of Leveriza in Malate, Manila is set to be honored in Manila City Hall on Monday, August 19.
This was learned from Mayor Honey Lacuna who said that he and Vice Mayor Yul Servo are already in the process of preparing for the said two important events to give recognition to a true-blue Manilan who has brought pride and honor not only to his fellow Manilenos but moreso, the entire country.
Lacuna and Servo joined President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos in feting Yulo and all the other Philippine Olympians via a grand reception in Malacanang on Tuesday night.

According to Lacuna, the Manila City Hall will be holding a program to fete Yulo and present to him awards and cash incentive amounting to P2 million.
The schedule of Yulo, she said, is quite loaded which is why the awarding has yet to take place on Monday.
Lacuna said another Manilan, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, will also be given a cash incentive of P500,000.
However, she said that the cash incentive for Obiena will have to be given earlier since he is scheduled to go abroad on Thursday.
The lady mayor explained that the planned ‘Carlos Yulo Day’ in the city of Manila will be a working holiday.
The date chosen, she added, is August 4 because that was the day when Yulo won his first gold medal.
The declaration of the said holiday via a resoluton is now in the works at the Manila City Council headed by Servo as its Presiding Officer.
