PRC to keep blood supply flowing 

WITH the country in danger of facing a shortage of blood supply amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has prompted the government to limit public transportation, movement and to prohibit group gatherings, the Philippine Red Cross will launch a new program for blood donation on World Blood Donors’ Day to ensure sufficient supply of safe and quality blood.

First mobile quarantine facility at CCP complex completed

Villar said the high cube containers converted into mobile rooms can be used as additional COVID-19 isolation health facilities or these may also function as alternative living quarters to temporarily house medical doctors and staff on duty at hospitals or at mega quarantine facilities operating at PICC, World Trade Center and Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

“We now have two regional hospitals that can serve people from various municipalities of the region, the Batangas Medical Center in Batangas and the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Cavite, two specimen testing laboratories in the region at the Lucena United Doctors General Hospital in Quezon and the De La Salle Medical Health and Sciences Institute in Cavite,” he said.

Testing center to open in Cagayan de Oro

SENATOR Richard J. Gordon, chairman and CEO of the Philippine Red Cross, expressed optimism that the PRC’s COVID-19 testing capacity will be enhanced by the opening of a testing center in Cagayan De Oro, which will be built through the generosity of Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare Philippines, Inc. (Lysol Philippines).
