Ayo, Baldwin reunite

CHOOKS-TO-GO Pilipinas 3×3 basketball chief trainer Aldin Ayo has recently reunited with erstwhile collegiate coaching rival Tab Baldwin, who share mutual admiration to each other.

It’s been more than a year since Baldwin and Ayo were able to catch up. The two mentors figured in a roller-coaster 2020 that saw them figure in controversies.

Ayo and Baldwin were able to talk about the unforgettable year that was and their past encounters in a chance meeting last Tuesday in Eastwood City.

As Ayo is now busy in rebuilding the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 program with the departure of its vital cogs late last year, Baldwin is doing work with Gilas Pilipinas as its program director, especially with the cancellation of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.

Laughs were shared during the brief 30-minute talk as Ayo and Baldwin recalled their intense and fierce battles on the hardcourt.

Moreover, the two expressed their mutual admiration of one another as the two had long wanted to sit down with each other for quite some time.

Their “bonding” session, however, was cut short as Baldwin and Ayo had to attend separate meetings on that day.

Let’s have dinner soon, Aldin,” said Baldwin.

Ayo responded with a smile, as he looks forward to meet the three-time UAAP champion coach from Ateneo one day.

Nasa 2016 pa lang ang usapan namin,” said Ayo, who won championships for Letran in the NCAA and for La Salle in the UAAP.

Ayo took over from Eric Altamirano as Chook-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 head coach last November.
