Bahraini wanted for sex crimes nabbed

A MALE Bahraini national wanted for sex crimes in his country was arrested by Bureau of Immigration-fugitive search unit (BI-FSU) operatives.

The captured fugitive was identified as Alsendi Waleed Abdulla Hamad, 43.

He was arrested on Tuesday in Barangay San Francisco II, Dasmariñas, Cavite pursuant to a mission order issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) which instructed the BI to verify the presence and status here of the said Bahraini national and, if warranted, to initiate deportation proceedings against him.

FSU head Bobby Raquepo said Hamad is the subject of an arrest warrant by the public prosecutor’s office of Bahrain for sexual assault and possession of pornographic materials.

Consequently, an Interpol red notice against him was issued two years ago.

Raquepo said that based on records, Hamad fled to the Philippines in March 2016 after being accused of sexually assaulting a female victim in his apartment.

Hamad is now detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City and will also be included in the immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines.

He will remain in detention pending the issuance of the order for his summary deportation by the bureau’s board of commissioners, as his presence in the country with a record as a sex offender poses a serious public threat.
