A FILIPINO “balikbayan” who escaped from a quarantine facility surrendered to authorities Thursday afternoon in Pasay City.
Igor Mocorro, who came from Los Angeles, USA, reportedly escaped last Sunday, January 3, 2021 from the SOGO Hotel along Roxas Boulevard that is being utilized as a temporary quarantine facility while waiting for the result of his swab test.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano immediately instructed city police chief P/Col. Cesar Paday-os to locate the whereabouts of Mocorro.
On Wednesday afternoon, elements of the Pasay City police led by P/Maj. Wilfredo Sangel went to the given address of Mocorro at Unit 3 No. 1247 Estrada St. corner Taal St., Malate but he was not in his residence.
Mocorro’s friend, Joren John Ubaldo told police that their last conversation was five hours ago.
Ubaldo assured to inform Mocorro that the police are looking for him. The friend vowed to advise the balikbayan to return to the quarantine facility or else an appropriate case will be filed against him.
On Thursday afternoon, Paday-os reported to Mayor Emi that Mocorro surrendered to the Manila Police District (MPD).
Mocorro will be turned over to the Sogo Hotel where he will stay for 14 days, pending the result of the swab test conducted on him.
