Bartender nabbed for 5.6 kilos of MJ leaves

A 36-YEAR-OLD bartender was arrested Friday evening following the confiscation of 51 rolled plastic pieces containing some 5.6 kilos of dried marijuana leaves that were sent to J & T Express (Logistic Company) in Bgy.Landayan,San Pedro City, Laguna.

San Pedro Police chief PLT. Col. Jesus Lintag identified the arrested suspect as Francisco Lopez alias Gab, of Unit P. Purok 3 TVL Compound, Bgy. Landayan, San Pedro City.

A supervisor of the J & T Express identified as Jessica May Baulite, 24, of Block 1 Lot 5 Doña Marcela Subd., Bgy. Canlalay, Biñan City, Laguna, called the police after the suspicious parcel was sent to their firm.

Initial investigation showed that on or about 11 p.m. on November 18, 2020, police received a report from the J & T Express (Logistics Company) that they were informed by their main office regarding the 23 suspicious rolled plastic pieces that they received from a walk-in client who listed his sender name as @GAB.

One of J&T Express’ branches discovered that a Keratin shampoo bottle that came from @GAB contained marijuana.

The company conducted an investigation and discovered that @GAB also had pending parcels in San Pedro City, Laguna.

The firm immediately red-flagged the said 23 pieces of suspicious parcel and sought the assistance of the police.

The marijuana was discovered by authorities inside the 23 suspicious parcels. The discovery was also witnessed by Landayan officials and their staff, Baulite and the J & T Express supervisor.

The seized evidence will be brought to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 4A for laboratory Examination.
