Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna bared that there is a need to almost change the entire floor plan of the President Corazon Aquino Hospital (CAH) in Baseco just to fix the defects which were the reasons why it was denied a license to operate by the Department of Health (DOH) and cannot be put to use.
Said hospital was begun by the past administration and when Lacuna took over as mayor, the DOH ruled that it did not pass the standards and thus, could not be operated after the DOH did not grant it a license.
Lacuna said that the defective features of the said hospital are now being remedied by her administration to make it compliant with DOH standards and so that it can finally be put to use.
Among those that underwent review and are now being done as per approval of the DOH are as follows: installation of sliding doors for equipment storage, isolation room and wards; additional toilet facilities for emergency room, male ward and medical ward; widening of rooms by means of lessening the number of beds in each ward to meet the required minimum of 7.43 sq.m. per bed; wider door (1.2m) for the operating room (OR), delivery room (DR) and recovery room; changing the Operating Room as Recovery Room and transferring the Delivery Room; formation of new portions like Central Sterilization Room, Dietary Room and Storage Rooms; installation of sinks for ultrasound room, OB-Gyne, ER, Radiology and other wards; removal of walls, nurse station and existing toilets in various parts of the hospital; putting into order the OPD Records Room and Central Laboratory and installation of canopy at the OPD entrance.
