CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan — Newsmen in the province have expressed full support and cooperation to newly-designated Bataan PNP director Col. Joel Tampis.
“If we had supported 100 percent all the previous PDs (provincial directors) who are not residents of Bataan, then we can assure 1,000 percent of our support to Col. Tampis being a native and resident of this province,” said Jun Bringula, former president of Bataan Press Club, DWIZ broadcaster and associate editor of Vision local news weekly.
Tampis, for his part, assured that he will let the axe fall where it may. “Trabaho lang ang sakin, maski kamag anak at kaibigan kung nagkasala naman sa batas ay ating ipapatupad ang batas,” he stressed.
During his stint as chief of police in various towns in Bataan in his younger days, Tampis, a native of Mariveles town, had accomplished much, earning the admiration of governor Abet Garcia who immediately Col. Tampis when he applied as PD of Bataan.
Garcia even posted on social media that Tampis is welcome as the new PD of Bataan.
In a press briefing inside the Bataan PNP Headquarters this morning, Tampis said that based on the figures “crimes committed in past few days continued to decrease in Bataan.”
