“WE thank the Journal Group, its editor-in-chief Gus Villanueva and People’s Tonight managing editor Tess Lardizabal for sharing their skills and expertise as fellow journalists in the media field, and sharing their inspiring journey and success stories of their humble beginnings. They really walk their talk.”
Thus, said Eileen Cruz-David, SPD chief of the Bureau of Communications Services (BCS) as she led the BCS editorial team in paying a courtesy call to the Journal Group and thanking editor-in-chief Augusto B. Villanueva for being a valuable partner of their publications namely Balita Central and Executive Action magazine.
David was accompanied by Joan Tricia Alcantara, Editorial Section Head, BCS; Ma. Criselda Vanessa Landig, Associate Editor, BCS, and Raiza Cabugwang, Writer/Researcher, BCS.
BCS Director Princess Pebbles Duque also expressed her gratitude to the Journal Group and Villanueva.
“We are elated that they welcomed us as partners and gave us their expertise and knowledge in enhancing our government newspaper to passionately inform the Filipino for nation building. Salamat PJI!,” Duque added.
During the BCS team’s visit, they were given valuable insights on trailblazig media and advertising trends by Villanueva.
The government team was also given advice on how to expand their publications and disseminate more information to wider sectors thru interesting and informative editorial content as well as advertising.
The BCS is a vital government information arm dedicated to accurate, relevant, and responsible communications services in support of the Presidency.
The BCS of the executive branch launched last July the Executive Action magazine that will counter the proliferation of fake news against the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Executive Action is an alternate source of articles aimed at bringing the government closer to the people by providing them information about the administration’s programs and projects. It also features personalities that have made significant contributions in government.
David said the magazine delivers accurate information about the government’s true agenda.
“We are all aware of the dangers that fake news poses to our society. The government has time and again been targeted by malicious and fallacious propaganda from the people whose intentions are to malign and undermine the Duterte administration’s achievements,” David had said in a speech.
The BCS has also launched newspapers dedicated to dismiss disinformation at the LRT-2 in, Cubao, Quezon City.
The 12-page Balita Central is distributed for free to all riders of LRT and MRT.
Aside from combatting “fake news” the newspapers will also publishe and features interesting news relevant to Filipino lives everyday.
