Be a Spiritual Frontliner

“THE Christian life is a great thing, one of the greatest things on earth,” pens nineteenth-century writer Horatius Bonar. And yet, he goes on to say, it is “made up of daily littles.” A huge thing made up of daily “little doses”. Such is the Catholic life — the pursuit of holiness through small acts of faith.

If you want to get the completest, most precise picture of a person, do not observe him at work, out in public, or even at church — go home with him and observe how he performs there. Nowhere else does the heart overflow so easily; nowhere else does the inner man, so often veiled in public, show his true face.

For some of us the limitations of being at home due to one’s age and prevailing ailments has hampered one’s desire to volunteer and be part of social response efforts against COVID-19 but in our own simple way we can still be part of the battle by being a SPIRTIUAL FRONTLINER from our homes.

Our Lord Jesus has eyes for the smallest duties we perform in the Spirit. “Whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord,” Paul reminds Christian servants (Ephesians 6:8). Whatever good is a wide umbrella indeed — spacious enough to embellish even diapers and dishes with divine sanction, with the priciest gold and gems.As Spiritual Frontliners we can join this battle against COVID-19 by:

SHARING THEIR STORIES – If you know a FRONTLINER (and his/her inspiring story of hope and bravery) you will motivate and transform others by sharing it either online or by mail to other news media. Wouldn’t it have been amazing, if you knew that there are other people out there, who have similar stories like this as well? Or even better they share how they triumphed over COVID-19? You open up the possibility to someone going through something our FRONTLINERS already have been through and offering him or her some guidance or at least some company. Sometimes it is already enough to know that they are not alone with their struggles, isn’t it? Then knowing that people made it successfully through it is even more comforting. Especially topics that aren’t spoken about much (e.g. A Frontliner’s Hopes and Aspirations). Starting the conversation about something that happens to quite some people, but that might be loaded with OPTIMISM or COURAGE, is so important and the reason you should share their story today.

SENDING THEM WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT – When you’re in the midst of a stressful situation, a sincere and well-timed “thank you” or a heartening word of a well-deserved recognition can inspire a FRONTLINER to keep going in the face of nearly any obstacle. By texting or posting such words of encouragement to physicians, nurses, healthcare employees and other frontline workers who are out there every day in our hospitals, streets and essential businesses, working around the clock to overcome the COVID-19 crisis while away from their homes and the people they love; they will know how much we value them. As challenging as our current situation has been, the fact remains that we are kept out of harm’s way—able to continue working and being with our loved ones—because our FRONTLINERS have heeded the call to fight this pandemic; and for that we should THANK THEM.

and OFFERING THEM PRAYERS – Galatians 6:2 convey that we, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Praying for one another is a potent way for us to bear one another’s burdens. Taking another’s hand and praying for them is a powerful blessing you can give another person. As Spiritual Frontliners our battleground against this invisible enemy is the transcendental realm to which prayer is our best weapon. And since MASS is the highest form of prayer, I invite you to offer a Eucharistic Celebration for them. Over at Radio Veritas a daily Mass every 6:00 a.m. 12:00 nn and 6:00 p.m. is broadcasted On-Air and Online; you may contact Ms. Renee Jose at 09176314589 for your Mass Intentions for our Frontliners. They even have a campaign dubbed as “ADOPT A FRONTLINER” where your donation gives you a SAN ROQUE medallion (The Patron Saint Against Plagues) and another medallion shall be given to a frontliner in your name. The frontliner’s name shall then be given to you to whom you would pray for him/her daily (we suggest you do it at 4:00 p.m. because this is the same time we hear the DOH our daily COVID-19 updates). Here it the Spiritual Frontliner’s Prayer we recommend you recite:

Almighty and Loving Father, despite the limitations of staying at home due to our age and health restrictions; we stand united with our FRONTLINERS in asking you for their protection against COVID-19. Enhance their immune system and reinforce every single part of their body that they may live healthy. Let your angels protect and guide them. Give them the strength that they need right now. We know that they also have uncertainties inside but let your love give them courage. Replace it with your eternal peace. Let your love overflow in their lives. That they may also share it to those who are sick. Be with them right now Lord that they may hear your voice in the middle of this crisis. This we ask through our Lord Jesus Christ you Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, Forever and Ever. AMEN.
