Beauty always a Kapamilya at heart

I Got You

BEAUTY Gonzales says she didn’t have a hard time asking the permission of ABS-CBN to allow her to do the romantic drama, “I Got You”, with TV5.

“Free lancer naman ako kasi wala na akong contract sa ABS,” she says. “But still, nagpaalam ako nang maayos bilang respeto, at kahit wala pa silang bagong project for me, simply because I owe them my career.

“Everyone knows sa PBB Teens ako unang nakilala 12 years ago when I was just 17, and then they gave me my break in acting. Open naman sila and pinayagan akong mag-TV5. Sige, dyan ka muna while we are readying our next project for you. So thank you to them at alam naman nilang kailangan nating mag-work ngayon. Ang tagal ko na ring nagpapahinga, e. But my heart will always be a Kapamilya, that will never change.”

Beauty admits that being a total newcomer from Cebu, she didn’t really know how to act when she started.

“Tapos, may Visayan accent pa ako. But ABS was patient with me.They gave me supporting roles muna and it took a while before I was given a lead role opposite Zanjoe Marudo in ‘Dream Dad’ in 2014. Tapos noon, I did more lead roles in ‘Ningning’, ‘Pusong Ligaw’, ‘Kadenang Ginto’, so sila talaga ang naghasa sa akin sa acting.”

She’s happy to be helmed by top director Dan Villegas in “I Got You”, which will run for seven Sundays.

“He’s one of our best directors now at iba ang atake niya sa show namin. Hindi siya basta drama kundi may touch din ng comedy so magiging endearing ang dating sa viewers. Kaya, lock in taping kami kaya na-miss ko ang husband and daughter ko, si Olivia.”

What’s her role in “I Got You”? “I’m Del and very challenging ang role ko as it’s my first time to play the role of a psychiatrist. Naging pasyente ko si RK Bagatsing as Louie, a soldier na suffering from trauma from the war at ginawa ko ‘yung bawal sa isang therapist, ang ma-in love sa patient niya.”

But eventually, they had to break up. “Kasi I found out that he is full of secrets and lies. Then years later, I meet Jane Oineza na may problema sa boyfriend niya, and I didn’t know it’s RK, so we meet again. Ang daming magagandang eksena na malapit sa totoong buhay, so viewers can really relate at aabangan nyo talaga ang bawat episode every Sunday afternoon at 2 PM, after ‘Sunday Noontime Live’.”

They’re all happy in the cast as the show’s pilot episode last Sunday got very positive reviews and many viewers say they can’t wait what will happen next so they’ll surely tune in again this coming Sunday afternoon.
