A total of 30 new immigration officers who officially graduated last August 18 at the agency’s headquarters in Intramuros, Manila were welcomed by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) into its fold.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the entry of new officers is in line with the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., which has prioritized the modernization and professionalization of frontline agencies. The President has consistently underscored the need for a competent, dependable, and service-driven government workforce, a vision that the Bureau said is reflected in its latest batch of graduates.

She said that the newly-appointed officers completed a fast-track training course that spanned almost two months. The program covered theoretical lessons, practical communication exercises, and focused heavily on developing soft skills necessary in the frontline delivery of immigration services.

Also present in the ceremony were Human Resource Development Division Acting Chief Atty. Cris Villalobos, who underscored the importance of discipline and professionalism in the officers’ career journey, and Learning and Development Section Chief Kryse Mende, who oversaw the rigorous training program.

The additional officers, according to Sandoval, will help strengthen immigration operations nationwide, particularly at the country’s international ports of entry and exit. The graduates will be deployed in different ports of entry and exit in the country.
