A male Pakistani national said to be an undocumented and overstaying foreign national was arrested in an operation conducted on March 27, 2025 by Bureau of Immigration (BI) Intelligence Division agents.

BI-Intellligence chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. identified the Pakistani as Khasta Rahman, 42. He was taken into custody at a convenience store along Antonio Arnaiz Avenue, Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City.

Rahman was found to have overstayed and lacked proper documentation upon verification and when asked to present his passport, he failed to do so, leading to his immediate apprehension.

Manahan said the operation was part of BI’s continuous efforts to track down foreign nationals violating Philippine immigration laws.

“We remain vigilant in monitoring and apprehending those who abuse their stay in the country. Our intelligence teams work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure swift action,” Manahan said.

He added that Rahman was informed of his constitutional rights before being transported to the BI Main Office for documentation, medical clearance and legal proceedings. A commitment order was later issued, and he was admitted to the BI Warden Facility the same evening.

According to BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval, the operation was initiated following intelligence information from an anonymous complainant and that the alien is now facing deportation and will eventually be included in the bureau’s blacklist.
