A Chinese man who previously made headlines after allegedly kicking to death a cat at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati was nabbed by Bureau of Immigration (BI) intelligence division personnel.
BI intelligence chief Fortunato ‘Jun’ Manahan, Jr. said the man, identified as Jiang Shan, 32, was arrested by the BI in front of his residence in Brgy. Palanan after being found to be overstaying.
Manahan said that based on BI records, ng arrived as a tourist in the country on May 2023, but has not extended his visa since September 2023.
During his arrest, Manahan said Jiang was unable to present any documentation so that he was immediately taken into custody, booked, and transferred to the BI’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig while he faces his deportation case.
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the bureau is warning foreign nationals to respect Philippine laws while in the country, saying the cruel action of Jiang led to the BI conducting checks on his records.
It will be recalled that Jiang went viral after kicking a community cat named “Ken,” who was peacefully resting on a walkway. The cat later succumbed to its injuries.
News reports said that Jiang was arrogant and refused to give his information to citizens in the area after the incident.
He is detained and is to be deported, Sandoval said.
