For attempting to pass himself off as a Mexican while departing at the NAIA Terminal 1, a Chinese national was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers assigned at the said airport.

Citing a report to his office, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the alien as Lho Zhi Min, 53.

Tansingco said Lho was attempting to depart for Kuala Lumpur on board a Malaysia Airlines flight Saturday morning when he presented a Mexican passport upon primary inspection.

During questioning, he could not answer directly so that the BI officers doubted the authenticity of his documents and referred them for tertiary inspection.

Subsequently, the BI’s forensic documents laboratory confirmed that his passport was indeed fraudulent, so that Lho was immediately arrested for violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.

The BI chief said that after inquest proceedings, Lho will remain in the BI’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending deportation proceedings against him.
