FOR attempting to evade immigration inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, four Chinese nationals were intercepted by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
According to BI spokesperson Dana Sanoval, the four aliens were intercepted by officers of the Bureau’s Immigration Protection and Border Enforcement Section (I-PROBES) as they tried to board separate flights to China and Vietnam.
They were identified as Zhang Zhaoya, Wang Linmei, Qi Xiangyang, and Chen Wenda and were flagged for various immigration violations.
Sandoval said Zhang has been overstaying since July 2024, while Wang and Qi have both been overstaying since September 2024.
On the other hand, Chen, although holding a valid working visa, was found without the required Emigration Clearance Certificate (ECC), a mandatory requirement for departing long term residents.
Meanwhile, it was learned that at least three immigration officers are currently under investigation for possible collusion with the intercepted passengers.
The four Chinese nationals were turned over to the BI’s legal division for inquest and fling of charges for violation of Philippine immigration laws.
