Bureau of Immigration (BI) frontline personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and all other ports of entry and exit nationwide are in full force during the holiday season.
This was learned from spokesperson Dana Sandoval, who said that the BI is assuring the public that BI authorities inspected the operations at NAIA and said that preparations are already in place for the expected influx of passengers. The BI earlier reported that it expects around 110,000 travelers during the holiday season.
As practiced, frontline personnel were not allowed to go on leave from December 15 to January 15 to maximize the manpower during the peak season. The ban applies to all BI port personnel, such as those deployed at the NAIA; the airports in Clark, Mactan, Davao and Kalibo; and Zamboanga international seaport.
Sandoval said terminal heads are also directed to ensure that all counters are fully manned and to encourage arriving travelers to utilize the egates, to cut down processing time even as the BI fielded more than 30 additional officers to augment frontline operations at the airports.
