The Sorsogon City District Jail (SCDJ) organized a Coastal Clean-Up activity along the shoreline of Poblacion Port, Bacon District, Sorsogon City, on Friday, January 24, 2025.
The event, conducted in collaboration with the Women’s Organization and Bacon 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) beneficiaries, highlighted the collective commitment to addressing marine pollution and preserving the environment.
Volunteers worked tirelessly, collecting 20 sacks of waste, including plastics and other debris, that littered the shoreline.

Meanwhile, Jail Officers and trainees joined local fishermen in pushing a banca into the ocean, showcasing the Filipino spirit of ‘bayanihan’.
Beyond environmental action, SCDJ extended their outreach to the young learners of Bacon East District Elementary School through a heartwarming gift-giving activity, distributing 70 loot bags filled with sweet treats and educational play items.
These efforts exemplify how collaboration between local institutions and community groups can make a significant impact on environmental conservation and community development.

By fostering strong connections with their neighbors, the jail unit continues to serve as a model for public service and environmental advocacy.
Acting Warden Jail Chief Inspector Louie Angelo C. Ungria extends his heartfelt appreciation to the personnel of SCDJ for spearheading the recent activities. “To the officers, staff, and volunteers who participated in this commendable event, your efforts have brought pride to the BJMP and inspired hope in the hearts of many. Let us continue to embody the values of service, integrity, and compassion in all that we do”, he said.
“Let this activity remind us that no effort is too small when it comes to making a difference”, Ungria added.
