Black Nazarene feast peaceful, orderly —MPD

THE observance of the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila was generally peaceful and orderly.

This, Manila Police District Director PBGen Leo Francisco said, was based on their monitoring.

As of 2 p.m. yesterday, the number of devotees in the vicinity of Quiapo attending mass reached 10,690 while 350 attended at the Sta.Cruz Church.

Only one, a man, was said to have fainted while attending mass while a woman giving away bottled water got injured when she accidentally slipped.

A TV station estimated the crowd to have reached 400,000 as of 12 noon.

The MPD said social distancing was impelented in and outside Quiapo Church. Minors and senior citizens were strictly not allowed.

Some vehicles, mostly motorcycles, were towed by the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) for not heeding the no parking regulations and will be fined P1,500 impounding fee.

It was learned that like in previous years, the wifi signal in the area was jammed based on orders from the National Telecommunications Commission(NTC) for security reasons.

No untoward incident had been reported as of this writing.
