BOC-MICP seizes P15M goods in Paco

AS part of continuing efforts of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) to secure the country’s borders, the Bureau through the Manila International Container Port’s (MICP) Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) apprehended various goods in a storage facility in Paco Manila on February 4, 2021.

Through a Letter of Authority signed by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the composite team inspected the facility and discovered reams of Chinese cigarettes, food items and medicines. Also found were liquors, cellphones, cellphone accessories and powerbanks. The items were belivieved to have an estimated value of P15 million.

Further inventory and investigation are underway for the possible filing of charges against those involved for violation of section 1400 of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tarrif Act (CMTA).
