BOC-NAIA assures efficient flow of covid vaccines

THE Bureau of Customs-Port of NAIA participated in a full-scale simulation exercise of cold chain logistics and management of COVID-19 vaccines.

The simulation started from the arrival of goods at the airport with pre-customs clearance at the BOC NAIA One-Stop-Shop, transportation of the vaccines, and to unloading, receiving, and inspection of vaccines in the cold chain storage facility at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, MIAA General Manager Eddie V. Monreal, Vaccine Czar and Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, MMDA General Manager Jose Arturo Garcia, PNP Chief Debold Sinas, AFP Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Bureau of Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, BOC Deputy Commissioner Atty. Edward James Dy -Buco, BOC -NAIA District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan and other government officials graced the event.

The activity aimed to determine the readiness and ensure the effective and efficient flow of the distribution process of the COVID-19 vaccines from the airport to the health facilities.

Guerrero assured the public that on the part of the Bureau of Customs there will be no delay in the clearance and release of the much-anticipated COVID-19 vaccines and will protect the country against unregistered and illegal goods.

The BOC-NAIA was recognized for year 2020 , for its accomplishment of intercepting P1.7 billion worth of prohibited commodities

It was awarded once again a Plaque of Recognition during the BOC’s 119th Founding Anniversary on February 8, 2021, for successfully executing apprehensions of various prohibited commodities including illegal drugs recorded for year 2020

The Port of NAIA was awarded in three consecutive years, 2018, 2019, and 2020 in recognition of the unwavering efforts of the port in apprehensions of illegal goods. The Plaques of Recognitions were presented by DOF Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez, DOF Undersecretary Antonette C. Tionko, and BOC Commissioner Guerrero in acknowledgement of the accomplishments of Port of NAIA in border protection.

Talusan said that for the year ahead, the men and women of Port of NAIA will continue to support the directives of Guerrero to enforce stricter measures against illegal and prohibited commodities and protect the borders.
