JOINT elements from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized some P1.6 million worth of illegal drugs concealed within five abandoned parcels at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.
Originating from Thailand and the USA, the said parcels were addressed to individuals residing in various locations across the country including Angeles City, Sultan Kudarat, Quezon City, San Miguel Bulacan and Calbayog Street in Metro Manila.
It was learned that the parcels were initially declared to contain items like candies toys, cookies, school supplies and men’s clothing.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the said parcels were found to contain 1,049 grams of high-grade marijuana, commonly known as “kush”. The haul also included 11 vape cartridges and 19 disposable vapes containing marijuana oil.
The seized illegal substances, estimated to be worth P1.6 million, have been turned over to the PDEA for further investigation and the filing of appropriate charges against the individuals involved.
