Boy, 3, killed in Las Piñas fire

A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy died while five others, including a younger brother of the victim and a fire volunteer were injured when a fire of still undetermined origin gutted at least five houses Monday evening in Las Piñas City.

The charred body of Steven Ethelmo Escueta or “Boknoy” was found in the rubbles of their burned house at B55, L20-22 Lopez Compound, Brgy. Daniel Fajardo, Talon I while his younger brother “Gab-Gab” sustained third degree burs in both legs and is presently confined at the Asian Hospital.

A fire volunteer who rescued Gab-Gab inside the burning house was rushed to the Las Pinas District Hospital, along with Shiela Edralin, Angel Camile Ethelmo and Stephanie Escueta who all suffered 2nd degree burns in the back.

Las Piñas City Fire Director Supt. Arhur Sawate said the blaze started at the house of Boknoy’s aunt Stephanie Escueta at around 9:26 p.m. and quickly spread into adjacent houses mostly made up of light materials.

Arson investigators SFO1 Rodel Agduyeng and FO3 Mar B Fajardo said the fire was declared out at around 10:37 p.m. with estimated damaged properties worth P200,000.
