Fully Furnished

Reel Estate Films, a production team composed of student filmmakers from Far Eastern University (FEU) Manila, is set to screen their debut short film “Fully Furnished” for free on YouTube starting on May 22, 2023.

Fully Furnished, directed by Chrystynn Carullo and written by Aizel Marfil, follows the story of Jackie (Angel Napiza), a woman who just moved into a new house with peculiar entities but consequently locks herself in a dilemma as she needs to work on a strange job to make ends meet. The film is said to tackle the issue of urban deterioration among humans with the element of micro-negotiation between humans and objects—highlighting the effects of capitalism and worker exploitation.

The director, Chrystynn Carullo, is currently a third year BA Communication (Digital Cinema Track) student in FEU. In an interview, Chrystynn mentioned that she is interested to discuss the effects of urban deterioration through a filmic lens:

“Fully Furnished will highlight the unfortunate situation of workers, particularly in the Philippines, where some are forced to accept any type of work available to fulfill their needs.”

Along with Chrystynn and Aizel, they were supported by the collaborative and creative effort of Ernest Manalili and Carlos Asilo, the assistant directors; production managers Eli Calma and Mariel Maga, master editor Daniel Tabios, production designers and wardrobe Dharra Manalo, Angelica Lacsa, and Jimwel Tablante.
