The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has underscored its unwavering commitment to aviation safety and regulatory excellence during the successful convening of the sixth Approved Training Organization (ATO) Summit, held on April 3-4, 2025, in Pasay City.
According to CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio, the two-day event brought together key stakeholders from Flight Training Organizations (FTOs) and Maintenance Training Organizations (MTOs) to reinforce regulatory compliance, enhance safety measures, and improve operational efficiency within the aviation training sector.
He said this year’s summit tackled MTO compliance, highlighting the Flight Standards Inspectorate Service (FSIS) licensing, certification, and inspection processes, as well as the need for a centralized communication channel.
Apolonio added that for Flight Training Organizations, discussions covered pilot licensing, optimized Flight Plan filing for Visual Flight Rules (VFR) operations, and the enhancement of safety reporting mechanisms.
“Additionally, the CAAP introduced the new Audit Surveillance Plan to strengthen compliance monitoring. The challenges and compliance in aviation flight training were also addressed during the breakout session for accountable managers,” he said.
CAAP, he said, reaffirms its dedication to maintaining the highest standards in aviation training and safety, ensuring the continued growth and competitiveness of the Philippine aviation industry on the global stage.
