Caloocan family’s house hit by tree;victims get aid

CALOOCAN City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan ordered the deployment of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDDRMO) in North Caloocan to assist a family leaving in Barangay 182 whose house was hit by fallen tree at the height of Typhoon Ulysses.

Personnel of the CDRRMO and the Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (DPSTM)-North immediately responded to the area and brought the affected family to the evacuation center where they were given assistance by the City Social Welfare and Development.

Mayor Oca said personnel of the CDRRMO cut down the century-old tree that hit the house of family leaving in Pangarap Villange due to strong winds brought about by the typhoon.

The CDDRMO, with the assistance of DPSTM, also started to clean up the main road of Brixton Ville Subdivision in Brgy. 175 from the debris of trees that was knocked down by the typhoon in the area.

The city chief executive said they already started the trimming of trees in several roads in the city last week, just before Typhoon Rolly hit the Bicol region and Calabarzon, but still some of the century old trees, including that in Barangays 175, 182 and Congressional Road, failed to withstand the severity of typhoon Ulysses.

Meanwhile, the City Social Welfare and Development Department have distributed food packs and relief items to some 94 families or 228 individuals who were at the 18 evacuation centers which was ordered opened by Mayor Oca to ensure the safety and welfare of his constituents.
