GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – Three days before he officially turns over his badge for reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56 this Tuesday, Chief PNP General Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan visited Nueva Ecija and led a gift-giving activity dubbed “Foodbank: Rektang Bayanihan-Tatak PNP” in this town on Saturday.
Assisting the Chief PNP in the gift-giving were businesswoman-philanthropist Myrna J. Reyes and Brig. Gen. Crizaldo O. Nieves, former Nueva Ecija provincial police chief and now-Police Regional Office 2 director, top officials of Donate-Philippines, and Brig. Gens. Valeriano T. De Leon and Rhodel O. Sermonia, PRO3 chief and chief of the Directorate for Police Community Relations, respectively.
Also on hand to assist in the gift-giving were Miss Universe-Philippines 2020 second-runner-up Michele Gumabao and her sibling, hunk actor Marco Gumabao, ambassadress and ambassador, respectively, of KKDAT (Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo).
Provincial police director Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro said the beneficiaries of the gift-giving activity were some 300 indigent families who each received food packs for their anti-COVID-19 pandemic needs and school bags for distance learners.
The Chief PNP’s group was also welcomed by Mayors Jose “Boyong-Boyong” R. Dizon and Mariano Cristino “Boyet” N. Joson (Quezon), Barangay Captain Rolando L. Domingo, and Dr. Jerry P. Galapon, principal of Manacsac Elementary School.
After the affair, Cascolan and company then went to Quezon where he attended a mass and led the inauguration and ribbon-cutting of a newly-constructed building of the Myrna J. Reyes Resort in Bgy. Sta. Rita.
In an interview with mediamen, Cascolan said he is ready for any eventuality if in case his term is not extended by President Duterte.
“Nakahanda po tayo para sa anumang utos ng ating Presidente, basta kami ay tuloy-tuloy na magtratrabaho para sa ikabubuti ng ating kababayan,” Cascolan said.
Cascolan also plans of taking a rest when he finally turns “Citizen Pancratius” after 38 long years of public service. “Magre-relax muna tayo seguro after retirement kasi 38 years na tayo sa serbisyo,” he added.
The Chief PNP, whose 56th birthday falls on November 10, also admitted that his term of two months and nine days is rather “short but sweet” for they have accomplished so much.
“Pero at least nagawa namin halos ang mga kailangang gawin, marami pang dapat gawin pero kung hindi na tayo papalarin na ma-extend, maipagpapatuloy naman iyan ng susunod na Chief PNP,” said Cascolan.
He added he has no idea yet if any government post would soon be offered to him after his retirement.
