CCP to Host Online and Onsite Book Activities for Kids through the CCP Children’s Biennale 2022: Balangaw

CCP Balangaw

The Cultural Center of the Philippines proudly hosts the Rainbow Readers: Batang Mambabasa para sa Kultura, Kalikasan at Kalinga on November 2022 at the CCP Little Theater Lobby and official online platform.

AHA! Stories is set to have their storytelling event entitled “AHA! Narito Na Kami!” on November 11, 2022, 4:00 – 5:00 PM at the CCP Little Theater Lobby featuring storyteller Steve Manzano. Ang Mga Alon sa Amin, the featured book for children written by Rainey Dolatre, Coleen Ramirez-Panahon, Gina Alfonso, and illustrated by Ianthe Pimentel, will also be available onsite for purchase.

An online talk organized by Tahanan Books entitled Bahay: A Tour of Traditional Filipino Homes will feature Adrian Panadero. He is an award-winning book creator and he will share how his love for Philippine culture and architecture led to his career in children’s book publishing. He will also show a preview of his brand-new cut-and-build scale model book featuring six traditional Filipino houses. Talk starts at 5:00 PM of November 11, 2022, via Facebook pages of the CCP and CCP Intertextual Division.

With the help of The Indie Publishers Collab PH (TIPCPH), an online book fair will be held by independent publishers for the month of November. Among them are 8 Letters, Aklat Alamid, Aklat Mirasol, Gantala Press, Kasingkasing Press, San Anselmo Press, and Southern Voices. Check the Facebook pages of the CCP and CCP Intertextual Division.

CCP Balangaw

Co-organized by the CCP Intertextual Division, the Rainbow Readers book activities are part of the CCP Children’s Biennale 2022: Balangaw. It is a colorful multi-arts festival for children that will run from October to November at the CCP and official online platform. It is free and open for kids (and kids at heart). Free copies of the newest children’s book of Dr. Rose Torres-Yu will be given away to lucky onsite participants. Books from Southern Voices, Aklat Mirasol, and AHA! Stories will also be available for purchase at the CCP Little Theater Lobby from November 11 to 13.

The festival aims to showcase various arts and cultures under the themes of Kultura (Culture), Kalikasan (Nature), and Kalinga (Nurture). A hybrid children’s biennale, it focuses on the indigenous culture, honoring our heritage, getting back to nature, and bridging cultural gaps among Filipino kids from various communities through live or virtual performances, discussions, workshops, installations, exhibitions, and film screenings.
