Cagayan de Oro City – Under the leadership of JSUPT MARLON J YMBALLA, DSC, City Jail Warden, the Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory (CDOCJ-MD) proudly hosted the Christmas Decoration Competition as part of the joint Pailaw ng Pag-asa celebration at the BJMP-10 Regional Office Grounds, Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City.
The celebration aimed to develop camaraderie, encourage creativity, and strengthen morale among personnel while commemorating the Christmas season. The event reached its highlight with a countdown and synchronized lighting of all decorations, creating a magical and festive atmosphere. Performances from dedicated personnel from the Regional Office, CDOCJ-MD, and CDOCJ-FD further enlivened the celebration, showcasing talent and enthusiasm.

A distinguished judging panel, led by JCSUPT FELIXBERTO S JAGORIN JR, DSC, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, and joined by JSSUPT GIL V INOPIA JR, Assistant Regional Director for Administration; JSUPT WILLIAM T MANENGYAO, Assistant Regional Director for Operations; and JSINSP MARY ROSE S PACANA, CDOCJ-FD City Jail Warden, carefully evaluated each entry. Their participation ensured fairness while recognizing creativity, teamwork, and effort, contributing significantly to the success of the competition.
The celebration also brought joy, hope, and a sense of comfort to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) inside the facility. The colorful decorations, performances, and festive lighting created a cheerful environment that lifted spirits and fostered a sense of community. This meaningful activity reminded the PDL that they are valued and included in the seasonal festivities, strengthening their connection to the broader jail community.

This celebration demonstrates not only the festive spirit of CDOCJ-MD but also the power of unity, teamwork, and shared hope during the holiday. Through creative expression and camaraderie, the personnel and partners exemplify how meaningful activities can uplift spirits and foster a sense of belonging, even for our PDL, reminding them that the joy of Christmas extends to every member of our community.
The Christmas Decoration Competition and Pailaw ng Pag-asa celebration reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to holistic rehabilitation, morale-building, and community spirit, making the season brighter for both personnel and the PDL.
