Cagayan de Oro City – The Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory (CDOCJ-MD), under the supervision of City Jail Warden JSUPT WILLIAM T MANENGYAO, DPA, proudly supported the Suicide Prevention Walk for a Cause. This impactful event, held as part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month 2024, saw nearly 2,000 participants from various agencies and offices coming together to advance mental health awareness and promote a hopeful narrative on suicide prevention.
The walk took place at Rio Se Oro Boulevard and was organized to make a significant impact in Cagayan de Oro. This year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide: Change Your Story with Us,” highlighted the importance of hope and positivity.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office 10, led by Regional Director JCSUPT CESAR M LANGAWIN, and the Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Female Dormitory, under JINSP LYN M BERNIL, were actively involved in the event. Their participation underscored the collective dedication of public service agencies to raise mental health awareness and combat the stigma associated with suicide.
The initiative aimed to build unity among public service entities, enhance mental health awareness, and challenge the stigma surrounding suicide. The event concluded with a formal program, celebrating a day of hope and solidarity.
