Chinese national kills siblings, commits suicide

TWO Chinese nationals who were reportedly siblings were allegedly killed by the boyfriend of one of the victim’s early yesterday morning in their condominium unit in Quiapo, Manila.  Another Chinese national, believed to be the suspect, reportedly committed suicide hours later.

Police Master Sgt. Jansen Rey San Pedro of the Manila Police District-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (MPD-CAPIS) said one of the victims was identified only as “Ivy” while the man remains unidentified.

The bodies of the victims were found at Unit 704 of the Gaisano Tower on C. Palanca Street in Quiapo, at around 12  a.m.

The suspect identified as Qiu Shaojie of Blumentritt Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila, escaped after shooting the victims but he was later said to have committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center. Police said the suspect was Ivy’s boyfriend.

The bodies of the victims were discovered by the condominium’s security guards when they accompanied Caisar Bagumbaran and Amerin Mahmod, store helpers of Ivy’s friend Zhirong Huang. Police said the helpers were ordered by Zhirong to check on Ivy after the victim called him last Monday telling him that she and the suspect quarreled after their breakup. The victims bore bullet wounds in the head.

Police said the suspect was spotted by patrolling barangay watchmen at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Remigio Street. When the authorities were about to arrest the suspect, the later suddenly slashed his wrists.

The suspect was rushed to the hospital for treatment but he ran to the terrace at the fifth floor and jumped to his death at around 3:26 a.m. The suspect fell on scaffolding and initially survived but he expired several hours later.
