Chinese national nabbed for drugs

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Policemen arrested a Chinese national for alleged possession of shabu and drug paraphernalia in Subic, Zambales last Sunday.

Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon, Police Regional Office 3 director, identified the arrested suspect as Jiafeng Lu, from Guangdong, China, and presently staying in PasayCity.

De Leon said the Chinese national seemed to be lost in Barangay Sto. Tomas in Subic town when barangay officials approached and offered to assist him.

For no reason, the Chinese national threw the paper bag at the barangay officials and ran away.

He was chased and accosted.

Policemen discovered the paper bag contained a small can containing suspected shabu and five carton wrappers containing drug paraphernalia.

The Chinese national is facing charges for violation of Sec. 11 and 12 of Art. II of Republic Act 9165.

Meanwhile, the Public Safety Savings Loan Association Incorporated (PSSLAI) has bolstered the defenses of Police Regional Office 3 against coronavirus with a donation of more than a million worth of masks and other personal protective equipment last Monday.

Ret. Maj. Gen. Lucas Managuelod, chairman and CEO of PSSLAI, personally handed over to De Leon the 55,556 N95 face masks and PPEs during the flag-raising ceremony at the PRO3 parade ground here.

Managuelod said the donation “is one more demonstration of our commitment to work together with the PNP to overcome the Covid-19 global pandemic and builds on our long tradition of outstanding cooperation with the police.

De Leon thanked Managuelod and added that the donation “constitutes an active recognition of the continuing efforts made by our personnel during this difficult time which has been caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
