Chinese national nabbed for ‘hot car’ and illegal drugs

A Chinese national found himself in deep trouble after Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) operatives arrested him for selling a ‘hot car’ and then found in it various kinds of illegal drugs worth P.8 million.

A report from PBGen Eleazar Matta of the PNP-HPG said the suspect identified as one alias Cheng, was arrested in an entrapment operation at the UN Square Parking Lot on United Nations Avenue in Ermita, Manila which is just beside the Manila Police District (MPD ) Headquarters, at around 8:30 p.m. the other night.

Among those seized from him were P.4 million worth of shabu, 45 sachets of party drugs worth P350,000; a sachet of cocaine worth P12,000; seven cartridges of marijuana vape oil valued at P21,000, a colt .25 caliber pistol and eight rounds of 9mm. ammunition.

The operation was reportedly conducted by the intelligence operatives of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 3 (RHPU 3) after receiving information that a foreigner is selling a Ford EcoSport for a very cheap price. Verification showed that it is in the list of Hold order of the Vehicle Information Management System (VIMS).

Said vehicle is now in the custody of the HPG for investigation, while the suspect had been charged before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Section 28, Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Presidential Decree No. 1612 (Anti-Fencing Law).
