The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) and the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) signed a memorandum of agreement to study the use of hybrid solar and wind energy for a sustainable power use.
CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos and PNOC President and Chief Executive Officer Oliver B. Butalid were present during the signing ceremony on Feb. 28 at the National Cybercrime Hub in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
Ramos said the joint technical undertaking, aims to provide energy to underserved and unserved GIDA areas The design and the commissioning of hybrid solar and wind power with battery system will be deployed to identified cybercrime resilient facilities of CICC located in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
“The new green technology aims to be sustainable and an efficient source of energy,” he said.
“PNOC has been actively promoting renewable energy and it is important that we partner with them,” Ramos added.
Butalid said that one of the thrusts of PNOC is to provide energy solutions in GIDA areas.

“So this is one project that will showcase an intersection of the mission of PNOC and CICC. Because the energy solution that we are providing is very new to the country,” he said.
The PNOC chief said that this would be the first time that a hybrid wind and solar power facility will be used in the Philippines which is also very portable and practical.
Butalid said that the technology is already extensively used in India, South America and Indonesia.
He explained that solar energy has low capacity while the hybrid wind and solar facility has a higher capacity.
CICC is targeting to deploy the new green energy technology in 10 locations around the country.
